We love the holidays around here. Gift exchanges, parties, holiday music playing since we can’t even remember when—we say yes to all of it. But there’s something particularly invigorating about the new year and seeing that calendar turn over. As we’re busy putting the finishing touches on year-end projects, we’re also giving a lot of thought to how we plan to grow and improve in the new year. We asked our employees to share their resolutions, and as you can see from their responses below, they have big plans for 2020 and beyond.

Some of these goals will help us serve our clients better, some will help our employees grow professionally, and others have absolutely nothing to do with work—and we think that’s great, too! So, take a look at what we plan to work on in the new year, and next time you talk to us, feel free to ask how it’s going. We’re big on accountability, so we’d love to share our journey with you.

Grant Corcoran, Business Consultant

“In the new year I want to become more involved in the community, both through service and networking. Nashville has been my home for my entire life, so I would love to be able to give back to my community and also build relationships with people I wouldn’t normally interact with on a daily basis.”

Lane Fenner, SVP Operations

“This year my goal is to lead a healthier lifestyle, which includes consistent exercise, better eating habits and regular checkups. Committing myself to this makes a lot of sense for myself, my family, my XMI team and our clients. I’ll sleep better, be able to accomplish more, reduce my chance of illness and improve my mood and attitude.”

Rachel Love, Executive Administrator

“I resolve to live in the now and be more present. These days, it’s so easy to stay glued to a screen, but I’ve realized you can really miss out on life that way. I want to enjoy more sunrises, spend more quality time with the people I love most, and who knows, maybe meet someone new every day!”

Beverly Owen, Recruiter

“My new year’s resolution is to take better care of me. I know this is a typical resolution, but as a full-time mom of three children and a part-time employee, I find that I am running on empty much of the time. I know that if I make it a priority to take a little bit of time each day to exercise or have some true quiet time, I will have more of myself to give.”

Callie Pfeifer, Marketing Director

“This coming year I’m really going to focus on creating more opportunities for the XMI team to share their knowledge with the local business community via workshops and speaking engagements. We have a lot of knowledge to share; I just need to get us out there!”

Jamie Redfearn, Business Consultant

“I plan to drink more water.”

Sierra Rogers, Payroll Account Manager

“This year I’m going to work towards becoming a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP). Not only is completing this training a great investment for my future, the new knowledge I’ll gain will enhance my ability to serve our XMI clients well.”

Brenda Rowan, Director, Implementation and Systems

“My new year’s resolution is to use my stand-up desk for a minimum of 30 minutes per day.”

Brad Shaver, Accounting Director

“My new year’s resolution is all about time management. There are so many tasks that need to be accomplished each day and with better time management I think I can end most days at the office with every to-do crossed off.”

Tiffany Thorne, Tax and Compliance Analyst

“My resolution is to sit for the CPA exams. There are four, so we’ll see how many I get through!”

We encourage you to give some thought to areas of your life that you’d like to work on in the new. Whether your goals are professional or personal, big or small, there’s always room for growth and improvement.
