Benefits Account Specialist
Prior to joining XMI, I worked in the health insurance industry for 5 years in sales and in appeals. I started in 2009 as an intern and then obtained my Accident and Health Insurance license and renewed small business accounts. I transitioned to the Member Appeal department in 2011 after completing my master’s degree. There I worked medical and non-medical appeals for the Medicaid line of business. I also was responsible for the Department of Human Resources Fair Hearing process.
Seven months ago I moved to Tennessee and began working for XMI Human Resource Solutions on the benefits team as the Benefits Account Specialist. I spend most of my day updating eligibility information in our human resources software and on various medical, dental and vision insurance carriers to ensure that employees are entered into those systems for the benefits they have selected. I answer benefit questions from both employers and employees regarding eligibility, status changes and COBRA. I also help with open enrollment meetings when clients are renewing their medical, dental, and vision benefits. This includes going to the client sight and helping with group benefit meetings and answering questions.
I currently spend my free time as the assistant leader for my son’s Cub Scout den and as an Independent Consultant with Arbonne.
I graduated from a small college with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and continued on to complete a master’s program, receiving a Master of Science in Health Care Administration.
