I came into the world of payroll, quite by accident. When I applied for a position with a truck driver leasing company in the 1976, I realized that I would be working with data involving driver pay. However, being new to payroll, I didn’t realize just how extensive the payroll world actually can be. Those years have taught me, that I enjoy the challenge. Working in driver leasing mirrored the PEO industry. When I decided a change of scenery was in order in 1999, stepping into the role of Payroll Specialist with XMI seemed natural.
After being here for a while, I was encouraged to pursue my Certified Payroll Professional certificate and completed the test in 2007. With that, I have become a member of both the American Payroll Association as well as the Greater Nashville Chapter of the APA. I continue to work on the challenges of education in the field, in order to keep up with the ever changing laws and procedures involved to assist both our external clients as well as internally at XMI. My position is now Compliance Manager, where I work with the payroll related taxes and compliance.
A day in my world at XMI consists of maintaining close contact with my clients, processing payroll and the associated tasks of employee files and updates. I also maintain the scheduling, balancing, filing and payment of payroll related taxes for all clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy travel, my family, and the three Australian Shepherds that are also a great part of family. I combine the travel often with my life-long love of dog sports and training. We are a part of the local Flyball club, Music City Road Dogs.
